IPL 2020 Schedule

The 2020 Indian Premier League, also known as IPL 13 is scheduled to be the 13th season of the IPL, a professional Twenty20 cricket league established by the BCCI in India in 2007


The tournament was originally scheduled to held on 29 March 2020, but was suspended until 15 April due to the global coronavirus pandemic. After Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on 14 April that the lockdown in India would last until at least 3 May 2020, the BCCI suspended the tournament indefinitely. On 2 August 2020, it was announced that the tournament would be played from 19 September to10 November 2020 in the United Arab Emirates. On 10 August 2020, the Indian government gave its permission for the tournament to take place in the UAE.

 

IPL 2020 Schedule


24 matches will be held in Abu Dhabi and 12 in Sharjah. The first double header will be played on October 3. There will be 10 double headers with the first match starting at 3:30PM IST and 2:00PM UAE. All the evening games will begin at 7:30PM IST and 6:00PM UAE. Defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on Chennai Super Kings in opener, set to be played on 19th September in Abu Dhabi.


 

On 4 August 2020, VIVO pulled out as the title sponsor of the IPL for this year.On 18 August,  Dream11 has been named title sponsor rights with the bid of ₹222 crore for IPL 2020.On 29 August, Indian online education company Unacademy has been named official partner of IPL till 2022.


On 28 August 2020, 10 members of the Chennai Super Kings team tested positive for the virus. The following day, another player from the team also tested positive.After that the BCCI announced some safety protocols testing on all players will be conducted regularly throughout the IPL this season.The BCCI are spending around ₹10 crore for more than 20,000 COVID-19 tests during the IPL.


The players auction for the 2020 season was held on 19 December 2019 in Kolkata. Pat Cummins was the most expensive player, purchased by the Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹15.5 crore. The most expensive Indian player sold was Piyush Chawla for ₹6.75 crore to Chennai Super Kings. On 18 August, Delhi Capitals signed Anrich Nortje to replace Chris Woakes.On 31 August, Royal Challengers Bangalore has been brought Adam Zampa as a replacement for Kane Richardson.On  Spetember 2, 2020, it was announced that Lasith Malinga would miss the season too due to personal reasons. Australian fast bowler James Pattinson was named as a replacement.
